Windows Server 2012 is now available on all Ideaz Servers.  Microsoft released this latest server software last week and Ideaz Technologies is already shipping it out. 

Along with new Windows 8 style user interface, Windows Server 2012 has many new features, including:

• IIS 8.0 - The latest microsoft web hosting tools
• New File System: ReFS (Resilient File System) This is an improvement to NTFS, used since Windows NT.
• IP Address Management Tools (IPAM)
• New Task Manager

Meet us at the 2012 ABDA Annual Conference

The 2012 ABDA Annual Conference will be at the Banff Park Lodge from October 26 to 29, 2012.  The conference is for bottle depot representatives from across Alberta.  This is a great opportunity for depot owners to learn what's new in the industry. 


Of course one of the new releases this past year in the Alberta Bottle Depot industry is the Solum POR system developed by Ideaz Technologies for the Alberta Bottle Depots in cooperation with the ABDA (Alberta Bottle Depot Association)  The conference will be an excellent opportunity to see the new POR system and get specific details of how you can get this system in your depot.

New Site Launch

We finally unveiled our new website allowing you to browse through the many computer products we offer our clients.  As you probably know, Ideaz Technologies is much more than just a computer sales company - But rather our focus is on helping small businesses use technology to be more productive.  However, small businesses often have a hard time knowing what computer hardware they should buy.  Therefore, we have put together a collection of quality hardware that our customers can easily find and purchase through our new site.  Most of the items we sell are specialty items that are hard to find in local computer stores.

The new website also comes as part of our 10 year anniversary.  Yes, Ideaz Technologies has been serving you for 10 years now.  Thus we have reflected on where we have been and where we are going next.  This has given us a opportunity to refine our business strategy.  

New Strategy:  We want to be able to serve our customer better and more timely.  Therefore, we are no longer promoting web hosting services and have discontinued some hosting services that we previously offered.  For example, we no longer offer coldfusion hosting and we are migrating all our email hosting clients to Google Apps hosting.  However, even though we don't promote web hosting services, we still provide hosting for existing customers.  The advantage is we can now be more focused on serving existing customers.

Ideaz Upgrade to Google Apps Email Server

At Ideaz Technologies, we have been dedicated to quality hosting services.  However, email hosting is a tough job, even for the best.  In 2001-2002 we used Microsoft Exchange server for email hosting.  In 2003 we upgraded to SmarterMail for our email server.  SmarterMail is great, and the latest version continues to be one of the best email servers.  However, even though SmarterMail has great spam filtering options, we can't compete with the dedicated team of professionals that the big companies like Google and Microsoft have dedicated to their email services.

This past year, Google released a new line of email services that we believe is the best solution for email hosting.  You have already heard of, or even tried Gmail.  But now you can get Gmail hosting for your own domain's email.  This is part of the Google Apps package, and it comes in a few optional packages:

1. Google Apps for FREE,  includes up to 10 email accounts and 7 GB storage space.  You also get Advanced Web Mail, IMAP mail, and POP mail services.
2. Google Apps for Business, $5/month/user, unlimited accounts, 25GB storage/user, more business related services, such as Outlook Sync.
3. Google Apps for Education, FREE, all the services that the Business version has.

Moving your email to Google Apps Mail requires some DNS configuration changes and some set up.  Over the upcoming months, we will be assisting our customers to migrate their email services to Google Apps.  Please contact us to book a time to migrate your email services.

ABDA POR presentation

At the ABDA (Alberta Bottle Depot Association) conference and annual meeting this past weekend, Ideaz Technologies presented information to representatives from bottle depots from throughout Alberta.  The presentation announced plans to develop a Bottle depot management system with Point-Of-Return functionality.  

We would like to thank the participants for the many words of commendation and appreciation for our presentation and software solution.  It is also encouraging to see the high level of interest in the new POR system.  Many have already signed up to be a candidate to run a pilot version of the system.

Meet us at the 2011 ABDA conference for Alberta Bottle Depots at the Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 1:00 PM.

Ideaz Technologies has been invited to give a 20 minute presentation that will preview the new Point-Of-Return (POR) software that is to be available for all Alberta Bottle Depots in the Spring of 2012.

We will also have an information booth set up during the day to answer your questions.
